Ken-and-Dan Photography was founded in 2005 following the success of a Transition Year photography module. Ken and Dan decided to meet on the weekends to take photos around Cork.
"Initially" says Daniel, "The idea wasn't to make money.....It was just something that was maybe at the back of our minds but never really something that was our primary reason to take photos"




The team grew as local photographer David Whyte joined in late 2004. Following the shuffling around of roles in the "team", a mutual decision was reached to go into business. However nobodody was too keen on forking out the cash to register a legal business in Ireland. David, as it happends knew Conor Lyons, a local Cork photographer, camera-man and all-round good-times guy. "As soon as Conor had set up CPL Productions (www.cplproductions.wetpaint.com) I saw the opportunity and grasped it by the horns!". David's thrifty entrepreneurship and Ken and Dan's photo expertise ensured a quick agreement to "join" CPL.

CPL Productions' decision to retail the Ken and Dan Portfolio brings the potential for both parties to the next level.


The "merger", per se, happened in March 2006. Under the current set up Ken-and-Dan supply photos to CPL, who then adquire the sales rights of the photographs. Conor Lyons, of CPL says "I was personally delighted and excited to be able to develop and expand the exisiting business by merging with Ken-And-Dan. Hopefully we can go on from here to provide an excellent service to the people of Cork".
